Ok things like this depress me. K.J. Yesudas is a singer. He should do what he knows best which is release music to the press and not statements like these.
Can't believe statements like these are still passing around and narrow minded opinions exist. Each culture evolves. Look at us, humans, we evolved from monkeys. Are we like them? Are we nakes eating bananas and picking lice? I don't think so. In the same way, the Indian culture and India in itself is a pit of evolution. Mind sets like these is why people all over the world still believe we are a narrow minded culture where it's ok for men to be half naked in lungis but women wearing jeans goes against the entire India culture.
First of all there is no belief or written script that says embracing western or European culture is defies our own culture. A culture is formed by evolution of various other cultures and reappropriation of cultures.
I am not defying my culture by wearing a pair of jeans. I respect it too much to let my clothing represent how I feel about our clothing. It's clothing which is a only a few thousands year old culture which evolved to wearing clothes. It din't exist at certain time in human history so why are we going on making statements like these is the real question. I'm so annoyed.
